How to become a certified Passive House Tradesperson

The Passive House Institute offers the “Certified Passive House Tradesperson” certificate which can be obtained after successful completion of a written examination. The contents of the examination can be found in the catalogue of learning objectives.

Training and preparation for the examination will be based on courses. A course comprises 6 interdisciplinary modules and 2 modules which are oriented towards specific skilled trades (thermal insulation/window installation and heat supply/ventilation). The duration of each training module will be about 2 to2.5 hours; altogether this will be around 16 to 20 hours (plus the time for the examination).

The courses and the examination are offered by course providers that have been accredited by the Passive House Institute.

After successful completion of the examination the participant will be awarded the ”Certified Passive House Tradesperson” certificate and will be included in the list of “Certified Passive House Tradespeople”.

The certificate must be extended every five years by providing evidence of participation in a certified Passive House project. Proof shall be provided through documentation of the model project.
